Parent Support Groups
Our parent support groups offer a compassionate space for caregivers of individuals with disabilities to share experiences, gain practical tools, and build a supportive community.
We offer four distinct parent groups tailored to the developmental stages and unique challenges faced by families.
All groups are designed to be inclusive, solution-focused, and respectful of each family's journey.
-
Parents of Early Learners (Ages 3-7)
This group supports parents of young children recently diagnosed or beginning intervention services. Topics include early communication, play skills, behavior management, and building a strong home-based routine. Parents will be grouped based on their familiarity with behavioral strategies and their child’s current skill level.
-
Parents of School Aged Children (8-12)
For parents of children in elementary and middle school, this group addresses topics such as navigating IEPs, supporting social skills, increasing independence, and managing transitions. Groupings consider both the parents’ prior knowledge and the child’s academic, behavioral, and emotional needs.
-
Parents of Teens (13-17)
This group focuses on supporting adolescents and their families through social development, self-advocacy, puberty, and preparing for adulthood. Parents will be matched with others navigating similar challenges and goals to promote mutual understanding and relevant discussion.
-
Parents of Adults and Beyond (Ages 18+)
For families of adults with disabilities, this group explores topics like supported employment, independent living skills, guardianship, and building community connections. Groups are structured around shared experiences and the functional level of both the parent and the individual they support.
